Twilight showcases the beauty and diversity of jellyfish in the deep 'twilight zone' coral reef, 300 feet below the ocean surface. Initially, it appears as a harmonious display of ethereal marine wonders, but closer inspection reveals an imbalance due to human impact. Jellyfish, existing for over 500 million years, now signal environmental changes as their population grows due to reduced predators and environmental stressors like warming and plastic waste. Some, like the Santa’s Hat Jelly and Purple People Eater, are considered pests, disrupting ocean food chains.

Human activities, such as trash disposal and deep-sea mining, contribute to chemical pollution and impact the coral microbiome. An iron chain buried in the coral can transform the reef into a harmful environment within a year. Despite these challenges, resilient creatures like crab larvae hitch rides on jellyfish to escape local threats. The Immortal Jellyfish, capable of reverting to an immature stage after maturity, exemplifies nature's resilience. The painting aims to captivate attention, showcasing these mesmerizing creatures while highlighting their role in the changing and deteriorating state of our oceans.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist. The archival artwork has been printed on the highest quality Somerset Velvet watercolor acid-free paper with archival inks and has been approved by the artist.

The archival prints include a certificate of authenticity lovingly produced in Letterpress by Zargosy Design.
